Japanese straightening (縮毛矯正) is a permanent chemical treatment that restructures the internal bonds of the hair to completely eliminate frizz, curl, and wave — delivering sleek, smooth results that last through washing and humidity. Unlike keratin treatments, which are semi-permanent, Japanese straightening works from within the hair shaft for significantly longer-lasting results (typically 6–12 months or more).

For the first 48 hours after your treatment, please avoid washing your hair and refrain from tying it back or using hair clips or pins. This allows the chemical bonds to fully set and ensures the best possible result. For ongoing care, use a moisturising, sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, protect your hair from UV exposure, and minimise heat styling. Regular in-salon treatments — such as our Intensive Nano Repair or Science Aqua — will help maintain softness, shine, and the longevity of your straightening.

Straightening can often be performed on coloured hair; however, we do not recommend it for hair that has been heavily bleached or is significantly damaged, as the chemical process can cause further breakage or uneven results. At your appointment, your stylist will assess your hair’s condition and porosity to determine the safest course of action. We will always be transparent with you — your hair health comes first, and we will never carry out a treatment we believe could compromise the integrity of your hair.

Our digital perm is one of our most popular services — it creates beautiful, defined curls that look great when dry, making everyday styling much easier.

Digital perms typically last 4 to 6 months; cold perms generally last 3 to 4 months. To keep your curls looking their best, wait 48 hours before washing after your appointment and avoid tying your hair back during this time. When drying, use a diffuser attachment or allow your hair to air dry — avoid brushing when dry, and instead use a wide-tooth comb or scrunch gently with your hands to define the curls. Moisturising, curl-friendly products and regular in-salon treatments will help preserve the shape and condition of your perm over time.

Perming previously straightened hair is generally not recommended, as overlapping chemical services significantly increase the risk of breakage. For coloured hair, it may be possible depending on the current condition, but bleached or highly porous hair is usually not suitable until sufficient recovery has taken place. As a general guideline, we recommend leaving at least 2 to 3 months between chemical treatments. Your stylist will carry out a thorough consultation and, where necessary, a strand test before proceeding.

Yes, though lifting dark hair to lighter tones requires bleach, and achieving your ideal result in a healthy way often means working in stages across more than one session. Our stylists will assess your starting level, hair porosity and desired outcome to create a realistic plan. Techniques such as balayage and selective highlights can create beautiful dimension and lightness with significantly less overall damage than an all-over bleach application, making them a great starting point for those new to lightening. We will always be honest with you about what can be achieved safely in a single visit versus over multiple appointments.

To extend the life of your colour, wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water rather than hot, and use a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner. A UV-protective hair mist will help prevent fading caused by sun exposure. A weekly nourishing mask will replenish moisture and enhance shine.
